Guru still sittin’ pretty. TomTheCat stalking his prey!
Week 4 is in the books, and apparently nobody told the top three that they were supposed to make things interesting. Guru, TomTheCat, and Curious remain in the exact same spots, while the top 10 poolies all managed to turn a profit.
Guru: Four wins, 42K, and still the king!
Guru continues to rule the pool, posting the biggest profit of Week 4 at a whopping 42K after going an impressive 4/5 on his bets. And the highlight of the week? A massive 30K wager on the Pittsburgh Penguins, who decided to make him sweat a little before finally winning in overtime.
Right behind the king, TomTheCat continues to prove that cats really do land on their feet. With another 40K profit and a 4/5 record on his bets, TomTheCat holds firmly onto second place and keeps Guru within striking distance. Guru might want to keep an eye on the rearview mirror. There’s a furry little problem gaining ground. The top two are now sitting on six-figure fortunes. With more power, comes bigger bets!
Curious rounds out the top three for the second straight week, adding another respectable 19K profit to the growing bankroll. No dramatic leap up the standings this time. No 39K fireworks. Just a solid week of making money and holding off the competition. And that competition is getting uncomfortably close. FatBastahd and Frank The Tank are lurking nearby, looking for any opportunity to pounce. Curious has managed to hold them off for now, but the breathing room is shrinking.
Cookie! 14/17 for the sweet 20k bonus!
With an outstanding 14 correct picks out of 17, Cookie secured the 20K Most Correct bonus and finished with a handsome 23.5K profit, jumping 8 spots into eighth place.
Andree3000 and FatBastahd were the only two poolies to correctly pick the Senators vs. Rangers game as the Most Total Goals (MTG) game, earning themselves the 10K bonus each.
Oh, QuinniasFortius We were rooting for you! (Well, kinda) After making headlines in previous weeks with consecutive Most Correct bonuses, QuinniasFortius has now made headlines for a very different reason: the biggest loss of Week 4, dropping just under 12K. The result? A painful fall from sixth place to 12th.
QuinniasFortius wasn’t the only one taking the scenic route down the standings. Jluu also suffered a rough week, losing 4K and falling from 13th to 19th place. Four thousand dollars might not sound catastrophic compared with some of the losses we’ve seen, but the standings don’t care about your feelings. They care about everyone else’s results. The good news? You’re not in the basement.
For the fourth straight week, we have a new basement leader. Oilers have officially claimed the bottom spot. And after watching his Edmonton Oilers take a shit kicking from the Buds, this was a double serving of misery.
Pick 6 – $165. No Winners – Rollover!!
We were so close. Again. A few poolies managed to finish 5/6 on the Pick6, but Guru was the only one heading into Sunday night’s games with a chance to take home the entire $165 pot. The final hurdle? The Colorado Avalanche to win by 2 goals over the Preds. Not only did they not win, the Preds pummelled the Avalanche, crushing the Pick6 dream and sending the jackpot rolling over once again.
